Hellooo! We made it home safe and sound from Oz. Many thanks to everyone who made our trip to Australia so memorable. We are sending out lots of love and hope to the thousands of lives touched by the floods that are currently affecting such a beautiful country.
We played three awesome shows on the way back to Nova Scotia from Australia. Much love to all who came out to support us in Vancouver and Toronto. I was overwhelmed by such a heartfelt homecoming.
Now, speaking of overwhelmed… I assume most of you have heard that a major dream of mine is merely days away from becoming a reality. For a few weeks I was miraculously able to function knowing that LEGENDARY Queens of Rock and Roll, Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, had my record and were going to make the final decision on who would be the luckiest duck in universe to share the stage with them across Canada. Well, QUACK! QUACK! They chose me! As I type this message to you now, the tears of complete happiness, excitement, hard work and fulfillment have finally began to fall. I can remember lip singing and playing air guitar to their songs when I was knee high. Belting it out into my hair brush (after teasing my hair of course) and surviving the usual sister fight on who was going to be Ann or Nancy… “You got to play air guitar last time!” :)
Over the last week I have received a MOUNTAIN of congratulations, support and beautifully encouraging messages. To everyone who took the time to write, comment or give me a “Thumbs Up!”, I am so thankful. This experience will be a life changing opportunity for me. Three days after my record is released I’ll be opening for two of the most influential, inspiring and ground breaking ladies in music HISTORY… my mind is blown and my heart is full. Also, to everyone at Company House Records, especially my manager Darren Gallop, Alison Giovannetti, Steve Butler and Paquin Entertainment, everyone at EMI, Andres Mendoza, Mat Dunlap, my wicked band, and of course Ann and Nancy for inviting me along, and paving the way for female rockers everywhere. Many thanks for all your hard work!
Although I will be playing solo, I promise to “Bring it” and represent Cape Breton, Nova Scotia all across the country. I know my record took a long time, and some might have thought it was never going to happen, but it’s happening and we mean business! If this opportunity is the result of 17 years of blood, sweat and tears… being broke, van break downs, barely making rent or being able to buy groceries, risking everything to make music since the 90′s… I will gladly do it all over again for another 17.
Stay tuned for the wild ride, and welcome to my dream come true! First stop… Newfoundland! (I would like to be screeched in!)
